1. How do I install my freezer?

Installation procedures are explained in the Owner’s Manuals for each freezer and the installer must follow those instructions. The instructions given hereafter are a brief summary and do not substitute the instructions given in the Owner’s Manuals:

  • Make sure the electrical power source matches the freezer power requirement printed in the Owner’s Manual or on the freezer nameplate
  • Freezer MUST be installed on a dedicated circuit and circuit breaker
  • Leave at least 6” clearance around freezer for proper ventilation
  • Do not install freezer in a warm non air-conditioned place
  • Do not install freezer near heating sources (radiator, range, etc)
  • For proper drainage and door closing, freezer must be properly leveled

2. How do I clean and protect my freezer?

Cleaning procedure is explained in the Owner’s Manuals. Make sure the freezer is disconnected from power source before commencing any cleaning.

Use only non-abrasive, mild liquid cleaners. Use of abrasive or chlorine based cleaners will damage your cabinet. For stainless steel parts, a commercial stainless steel polish and cleaner can be used. Always apply the cleaner to a soft cloth and then clean the freezer with the cloth – never apply the cleaner directly onto the freezer. Use soft water if possible.

3. What are the condenser maintenance requirements for the freezer?

Cleaning procedure is explained in the Owner’s Manuals. Make sure the freezer is disconnected from power source before commencing any cleaning.

Our standard Warranty is explained in detail in the Owner’s Manual. Our standard warranty is 12 months on parts and labour from the date of delivery, and 5 years on compressor (part only).

5. Who do I call for service?

7. What forms are required for submitting warranty claims?

8. Where do I send my warranty labour bill?

9. Can the door hinge be reversed from left to right or right to left?

On freezer models 2/4/6USG, the door can be reversed in the field. The procedure is explained in the owner’s manual.

On 13/22USG model, the door cannot be reversed until an opposite door and kit is ordered from Minus Forty.

10. How can I turn the freezer off?

On 13/22 USG and 44UDG models, remove the front bottom grill and then press the freezer power switch to OFF position. If required, the power cord can be unplugged as a next step.

On all other freezer models, unplug the power cord from the wall receptacle.

11. How can I turn the interior light off?

On 13/22 USG and 44UDG models, remove the front bottom grill and then press the light switch to OFF position.

2U/4U/6U does not come with a light switch. The light is always on while freezer power cord is plugged.

12. How do I replace the internal light bulbs?

The procedure to replace bulbs is explained in the owner’s manual. The freezer power cord must be unplugged prior to replacing light bulbs.

On 13/22USG and 44UDG models, the freezer must be emptied and shelves removed before commencing with bulb replacement. On 2/4/6USG freezers, only the products around the bulb must be removed to gain enough access. These are simplified steps to replace the bulbs:

  • Remove clear plastic cover that fits over the light bulb(s)
  • Squeeze the plastic sleeve against the bulb with both hands to get a good grip, rotate bulb 1/4 turn and pull out of sockets
  • Replace the bulb in the sleeve and install into sockets. Turn the bulb with 1/4 turn until the bulb is firmly in the sockets.
  • Replace the clear plastic cover

13. How do I replace the front display light (GDP)?

The procedure to replace this bulb is explained in the Owner’s Manual. The freezer power cord must be unplugged when replacing light bulbs. These are simplified steps to replace the bulbs:

  • With a Philips screwdriver, remove two screws that hold side frame (13/22USG) or top frame (44UDG).
  • Slide the lens to gain access to the bulb
  • Rotate the bulb 1/4 turn and pull out of sockets
  • Install new bulb
  • Install lens and frame parts in reverse order as explained above

14. What if the freezer is not operating?

Troubleshooting guide is listed in Owner’s Manual for the freezer. Check following:

  • Power cord unplugged or loose
  • Faulty receptacle
  • Circuit breaker tripped, or blown fuse, or open supply circuit
  • Improper power supply applied to the freezer
  • Freezer switch at the front turned off (13/22USG and 44UDG models only)
  • Freezer in the 6-minute startup delay mode (13/22USG and 44UDG models only). Wait until delay expires.
  • Thermostat or electronic controller set for too warm temperature

15. What if the freezer is making abnormal noises?

Check following:

  • The freezer unleveled
  • Parts loose
  • Condenser blade touching loose wiring
  • Refrigerant leaked out
  • Motor bearings worn out

16. What if there is water on the floor under and/or around freezer?

Check following:

  • The drain hose outside of the drain pan
  • Leak in the drain pan
  • Excessive ambient humidity and door openings

17. What if condensation forms on the gasket and/or freezer cabinet?

Check following:

  • Excessive ambient humidity and door openings
  • The cabinet perimeter heater burned or disconnected
  • Door and/or gasket not closing properly

18. What if condensation forms on the door glass?

Check following:

  • Excessive ambient humidity
  • Heated glass transformers not working or disconnected

19. What if ice is forming on the freezers interior?

Check following:

  • Drain tube heater burned out or not sufficient
  • Leak in the drain pan

20. What if the freezer is not reaching the desired temperature?

Check following:

  • Thermostat or electronic controller set too warm
  • Freezer loaded with excessive amount of warm product
  • Excessive door openings
  • Insufficient clearance around the cabinet or freezer close to heating source(s)
  • Improper power supply
  • Condenser coil clogged with dust and/or dirt
  • Evaporator frosted up
  • Fans not rotating
  • Refrigerant leaks
  • Compressor burned out

21. How do I change the freezers desired temperature?

Thermostat adjustments are explained in detail in Owner’s Manuals.

On 13/22USG and 44UDG models, remove the front bottom grill to gain access to the electronic controller. Press P button on the controller, SP1 flashing will follow, then use arrow UP and/or arrow DOWN to increase/decrease the desired temperature. Press and release P to store the selected temperature.

On other models, locate the electromechanical thermostat at the freezer back. Using spade screwdriver, turn the thermostat knob clock-wise for cooler temperature or counter clock-wise for warmer temperature.

22. What if the freezer is not operating?

  • Power cord unplugged or loose
  • Faulty receptacle
  • Circuit breaker tripped, or blown fuse, or open supply circuit
  • Improper power supply applied to the freezer
